To keep hope alive, it takes only one person, and that person could be you.

Anya's story

"My name is Anya, I am 17 years old. The war that came to Ukraine in 2022 forced my mom and me to leave our native Donetsk region. I finished the last school year online, graduation was canceled, and I never got to dance the school waltz at the last bell. All plans for the future were instantly ruined. I didn't want to go anywhere from my native and always peaceful town, but when a Russian missile fell near the building and later artillery bombardments began, the decisions changed instantly. Now my mom and I live in Lviv and I study at Lviv Polytechnic University. We were taken in by the Jesuit Refugee Service. They treat us very well here, extended a hand of support, and provided us with all the necessities. I really want the whole world to hear and help Ukraine overcome the enemy in this terrible war as soon as possible. I dream of waking up in the morning and hearing the news about the end of the war. I believe in our defenders and have hope for peace in my country."
